As we swing into the holidays and you’re searching for the perfect gift for your spouse, boss, best friend or even a mere acquaintance, there are many good choices.
It helps if you know what the gift receiver likes, but it’s not required. Most everyone knows I love wine and have a great wine cellar. Do I love to receive wine as a gift? You bet. Some of my most memorable gifts are wines I never would have purchased for myself. And it’s always fun to receive wine-related gifts such as decanters, aerators, pourers and glasses.
I think some of my most appreciated gifts have been spirit related. I love bourbon and now (thanks to some generous gift givers) have quite a collection of favorites. You can never go wrong pleasing your bourbon-loving friend with a label he doesn’t have or one of those hard-to-find bottles. The same goes for your Scotch-drinking friends.
With a little effort, you can find first-class bottles of premium spirits that will make the holidays bright. Don’t forget — you don’t have to stick to dark spirits though. Vodka, gin and tequila often come in gift sets this time of year and may include glasses or stemware.
The holidays are also a time for celebration, so a fine bottle of Champagne or sparkling wine as a gift is always a good bet. Many come in special gift boxes and may have stemware included.
